Sometimes I really feel like I am in a different movie from everyone else. I just don't believe the only goal is to beat Trump. I believe it is to find a president who can help defeat Trumpism, inequality, and rise to the challenges ahead. I believe any Dem can beat Trump.
If we settle for someone who wins but has no new ideas, does not address the underlying problems, can't rise to the new challenges, can't be re-elected, is unrealistic about the nature of the opposition, then we can win the battle and (continue to) lose the war.
But there is a view out there that Election Day is all that matters and that Trump is the only problem we face--despite 40 years of evidence to the contrary. We are unable to admit the setbacks we endured prior to Trump or those missteps in which we Dems collaborated.
We also fail to recognize the potential of a united Democratic Party to elect whomever it picks. We look at early polls driven by name recognition, we seek the path of least resistance. And we seem poised to miss the opportunity for seizing the moment & producing
real progress.

But as I say, I feel like I am in a different movie seeing a different reality. I'll support the candidate whomever it is. But, I'm worried we are going to get this seriously wrong.
