If Trump froze the aid for defensible purposes, and if Biden was really guilty of what Trump claims, why wouldn't he and McConnell *want* a trial with witnesses on *both* sides?

Don't lose sight of this epic absurdity:

Republicans have claimed for months that there's no direct knowledge of Trump's motives for freezing Ukraine aid. Hearsay!

Bolton could supply that direct knowledge. Yet Rs don't want to hear from him.

Republicans said for months that Sondland lacked direct knowledge of Trump's motive in freezing the aid. Sondland "presumed" the quid pro quo. It was "hearsay."

Now that Bolton might testify directly to Trump's thinking, they plug their ears.

Prediction:

If no witnesses testify, Trump will say this is fair retribution, because his demand for the Bidens to testify hasn't been met, either.

He's banking on the media failing to convey the absurdity of this. Which explains our current mess.

Joe Biden *actually did* combat corruption in Ukraine.

Remember when candidates could do something...not so good & it would cause them to bottom out? Like Kerry's "swift boat" & Romney's "binder full of women"? Now we have Pete lying about POC endorsing, Biden shown being full on racist and a pervert and....crickets.
Even before the primary it's "any old blue will do", no matter how bad they are. Centrists have zero standards & if you call a "chosen one" out you're accused of doing "purity tests". We need standards, we need our elected ppl to be as close to being beyond reproach as possible.
And this isn't just starting this election cycle. It started in 2016 when Hillary was pushed on us even though she was a bad candidate with way to many skeletons lurking in her closet. This pushed the "lesser evil voting" into overdrive.
