Prediction:

If no witnesses testify, Trump will say this is fair retribution, because his demand for the Bidens to testify hasn't been met, either.

He's banking on the media failing to convey the absurdity of this. Which explains our current mess.

If Trump froze the aid for defensible purposes, and if Biden was really guilty of what Trump claims, why wouldn't he and McConnell *want* a trial with witnesses on *both* sides?

Damning new details uncovered by NYT about Trump's freezing of Ukraine aid render a sham trial so indefensible that even the media's both-sidesing can't obscure what's happening.

Also: What if Rs run a sham trial, and big revelations blow up later?

It's plausible we learn more about Trump's freezing of aid by March. That's when a judge may rule on @publicintegrity's effort to compel OMB to reverse its blacking out of much of the documents it has turned over.

Great piece by @jayrosen_nyu lambasting the media for being so slow to acknowledge the right's full-throttle use of sheer *disinformation,* and media figures' inability (or unwillingness?) to fully adapt to the deep asymmetries it has produced:

We *already know* how Trump and the right weaponize disinformation. We *already know* it involves bad-faith efforts to get the "MSM" to launder it for them.
