The B.C. Liberal party held a caucus meeting on February 2, 2018, in Vancouver, a Friday.

They had another caucus meeting on Feb. 9.

And of all the gin joints in all the towns in all the world, they picked Kelowna for that meeting, exactly five days before the Kelowna West byelection.

Travel expensed to taxpayers for that meeting? In the neighbourhood of $20,000.
Even though the legislature was to reconvene 11 days after their Vancouver caucus meeting, Liberal MLAs just couldn't wait for another chance to caucus. :)
It's difficult to know if the party's freshly-minted leader, Andrew Wilkinson, attended the Kelowna meeting, since “Kelowna” does not seem to appear in his 48-page travel expense claim. However, there are airfares expensed for the relevant days.
MLA for Columbia River-Revelstoke Doug Clovechok's Kelowna charges:
Fancy that. The B.C. Liberal party chose its new leader on Feb. 3. All expenses paid by B.C. taxpayers for MLAs, perhaps?

They certainly ate on the taxpayer's dime. Mike Bernier's claim:
Air and ground transport (OCT. 15 TO 18): $796.18

Coincidentally the B.C. Liberal party's first leadership debate was in Surrey on Sunday October 15, 2017
Kudos to B.C. Liberal MLA Dan Ashton. Should all MLA's follow your example on the expense claims I've reviewed so far.
Still reviewing MLA receipts. 1,000 plus pages of them so far and this is the first receipt for Victoria's airport shuttle, expensed by Dan Ashton. Other MLAs take a cab at more than double the cost.
