Have you ever specifically bought something as an adult because you weren’t allowed to have it as a kid, for expense or other reasons? Particularly toys, music, clothes, books, etc.

Holy GOD this thread has blown up impossibly and is still going strong.

I think while a lot of the posts are displaying a bit of hurt feelings AND some really lousy parents have been represented, I think a lot of the posts aren’t resentful at all, kids are expensive.

And sometimes parents are doing the best they can and may not understand why a certain item holds significance beyond status at school or a momentary indulgence, soon forgotten.

Being a parent is a million choices, even the best ones mess up.

Which is not to excuse those parents who really were neglectful or abusive, they can bite my kaiju.

Also, it’s interesting, but somehow this thread got a LOT of responses from sex workers, many of who seem funny and I tersting, and I would love to follow them but since I use my iPad constantly during travel, at cons, and doing business, it’s difficult, because random genitals.

So, to all sex workers who follow me, I promise, I am not offended at all by your feeds and I love and support you and wish you happiness and success.
