Padmakshi temple - Warangal

Padmakshi temple is an ancient temple built by the Kakatiyas.
Situated on a hillock, it is very near Sri Siddeshwara aalayam.

The steps to go up are a little steep.

Seeing the board saying that it was the way for darshan, with a little bending we went through the rocks. The way leads to a cavern. On the way we can see stones piled one on top of another by devotees. It is said that devotees pile stones when asking for a particular wish.

Going forward we can see a part of hillock where two small Shivalinga are kept with a Nandi. Beside it looks like a place where homam is done.

We can see sculpture of jain thirtankaras carved into the rock. This are painted over now.
The early Kakatiyas followed Jainism and later converted to Veera Shaivism.
After converting to Shaivism this temple was worshipped as Padmakshi temple.

We can see old pillars in the temple.
The garbagriha is in a cave and again we have to bend a little to go inside for darshan.
Inside the garbagriha we can see sculpture of jain thirtankaras also.

Padmakshi Amma is beautiful. It is as if Amma is looking at us. It is said her face quality changes during the day, her face looks young like a child in morning, a young lady in the afternoon and a little aged in the evening.

After having a satisfactory darshan of Amma came out and took 2 pics of the Annakonda pillar which has Jain carvings and inscriptions.

I was so happy with seeing Amma that I forgot to take a pic of the Pushkarini below.

Bathukamma festival is celebrated here in a big way.
