Mind boggling awesome architecture
Kopeshwar Temple near Kolhapur in #Maharashtra is a masterpiece of Chalukyan temple architecture

Garbhagriha or the sanctum has 2 Lingas & there is an interesting legend about it.
There r Madanikas on the
walls of sanctum as well. This is rare.
the temple shimmers in the morning due to rays of the sun.
Swarg Mandap – Is the most unique architectural feature of this temple
Any one will be stand awestruck by the beauty They say, No matter how many images or videos we see, there is
nothing like standing on the large circular stone disc surrounded by 48 carved pillars with an opening to the sky
There are different views on when this temple was exactly built. Sources point to it being first built in 7th CE,probably built by Badami Chalukyas

1. ️Tatpurusha
2. ️Vāmadeva
3. ️Aghora

Tatpurusha is the eastern face. This face represents the supreme soul behind the physical being. This form is Ānānda Shaktī, the power of bliss. Connected with Annamaya kosha, in its higher manifestation it is bliss; in lower manifestation it's the concealing power of Shiva.
This face is associated with the earth element, muladhara chakra and is considered beneficial for increasing focus.

#MahaShivratri is celebrated by the devotees of Lord Shiva, who is the God of meditation, austerity, and contemplation. It is believed that Lord Shiva and Parvati got married on this auspicious night of Maha Shivratri.🙏🌿
On the month's 13th night/14th day, but once a year in late winter (February/March, or phalgun) and before the arrival of Summer, marks Maha Shivaratri which means "the Great Night of Shiva". There's a Shivaratri in every luni-solar month of the Hindu calendar. 🌿
Devotees strongly believe that praying to Lord Shiva on this auspicious day washes away their sins and takes them closer to the path of salvation. On this day, devotees observe strict fast and worship Lord Shiva with Milk, honey, sandalwood paste, Bel Leaves, flowers, fruits. 🌿

#Mahashivratri had NOTHING to do with "astronomical phase of the planet". In fact, astronomical phase of the planet is not even a real thing. No special astronomical alignment happens on this day.
Do not, even for a moment, believe the #pseudoscience being peddled by @SadhguruJV
As some people like to know more information about this, here are some points worth considering.
1. given that our luni-solar calenders have to add Adhika Maasa every 2.5 years, the earth's location w.r.t. sun and stars is not the same every year's mahashivratri.
2 phase of any astronomical body is merely an optical effect based on how that body appears to the observer - it has nothing to do with the body itself. E.g. half the moon is always lighted, irrespective of tithi. We just see differing part of lighted portion.

Herath Poshte to all.

Why is #Mahashivratri known as Hairath/Herath in Kashmir?

Kashmiri Hindus had a tradition of carving Linga with snow on Shivaratri

Jabbar Khan, Afghan governor, banned Shivaratri & ordered Hindus to celebrate festival in snow-less Ashadha month(June-July)
That year, it miraculously snowed in Ashadha and Shivaratri was celebrated.Everybody was shocked (Hairat=shock in Persian) and festival was celebrated.

Kashmiris have a saying "Wuchton yih Jabbar, jandah, Haras tih karun wandah"- look at Jabbar wretch, he turned Hara into snow"
Incidentally, Jabbar was the last Afghan governor of Kashmir.

Within 8 years of this incident, a general of Maharaja Ranjit Singh named Misr Diwan Chand (who himself was an ardent Shiva devotee) invaded Kashmir & Afghan rule came to an end.

Afghans were expelled from Kashmir.
