You can't actually separate the two conspiracy theories. They're part of one master conspiracy theory, pushed by Giuliani and the rest of the BLT Team, about how Trump's illegitimate opponents illegally plotted to undermine his presidency.
Trump's defenders don't believe the investigations Trump wanted are justified. If they did, they would have actually defended both of them.
Instead, they only discussed the one that most obviously hurts Trump's opponents—because to them, that's always justified, no matter what.
