WHO’s director says @WHO will reconvene tomorrow to make a formal announcement whether the #coronavirus constitutes a PHEIC (Public Health Emergency 🚨 of International Concern) later tomorrow. Many scientist & advocates believe it is time. Let’s make @DrTedros hear our thoughts.

3) New data shows that the R0 for #coronavirus was much higher in early January during early outbreak - up to R0=4! See graph from @LSHTM study. It has since dropped because of public health measures. Details here: 
4) MORTALITY numbers from a new @TheLancet article in Wuhan hospital shows the % mortality from the 🦠#coronavirus is... 11%! Wowzers. That was much higher than expected. Here is the summary from editor in chief of the Lancet (article PDF) in his link...

6) To be clear, this mortality % is not the official “Case Fatality Rate” (which is technically not a true rate since it doesn’t have time). This is just a selected sample of infected patients seen in Wuhan hospital, not of all infected patients. So let’s cautiously interpret.
7) Again to be clear, the total % case fatality is likely lower because lot of infected patients with less severe symptoms might not be in this hospital pool. At the same time, this is a small sample size. Also it’s encouraging that over 30 people were discharged (recovered?).
