The White House has issued a formal threat to former national security adviser John Bolton to keep him from publishing his book, "The Room Where It Happened: A White House Memoir," sources familiar with the matter tell CNN.
2/ The White House had no comment. Neither Bolton nor a spokesman for the publisher, Simon & Schuster, responded to a request for comment.
The letter comes in the midst of President Donald Trump attacking Bolton on Twitter,...
3/ ...and Bolton's lawyer accusing the White House of corrupting the vetting process for Bolton's book by sharing the contents of the book with those outside the National Security Council's Records Management Division....
4/...Trump's tweets attacking Bolton Wednesday morning suggested he knew the contents of the manuscript.

2/ Former Senate Parliamentarian tells me: Article I, Section 3, Clause 6

"...When the President of the United States is tried, the Chief Justice shall preside..."

Much there for the Chief Justice to decide at the time and in his discretion, with advice from counsel and others
ALSO: The Senate led by McConnell can always step in and overrule the Chief Justice by a simple majority vote.

It hasn’t.

The future of the US military presence in Iraq is in question amid scenes of confusion in Washington, as the Trump administration scrambled to respond to Iraqi demands for the troops to leave after last week’s assassination in Baghdad of Iran’s top general, Qassem Suleimani.
The US-led coalition taskforce fighting Isis in Iraq delivered a letter to the Iraqi defence ministry on Monday saying preparations would begin right away “to ensure that movement out of Iraq is conducted in a safe and efficient manner”.
But soon afterwards, the defence secretary, told journalists in the Pentagon: “That letter is inconsistent with where we are right now” and insisted that no decision had been taken to evacuate Iraq.
