How to judge the importance of scientific critiques? Use a necessary edits scale:

4* Big deal: All papers to be rewritten from scratch
3* Important: Major revisions in many papers
2* Notable: Some sections reframed
1* Inconsequential: A sentence or two edited

Delete: 'business-as-usual' (an ambiguous phrase at the best of times).
Replace with: "high end scenario"/"Burn it all"/"worst case scenario".
No other change required.

So that would be... a 1* effect. 🥱
And always recall the wise words of Steve Schneider:

Since this comes up a lot, a quick run though of the testable, falsifiable, science that supports a human cause of recent trends in global mean temperature.
First off, we start with the observations:
1) spectra from space showing absorption of upward infra-red radiation from the Earth's surface.
2) Measurements from around the world showing increases in CO2, CH4, CFCs, N2O.
3) In situ & space based observations of land use change
We develop theories.
1) Radiative-transfer (e.g. Manabe and Wetherald, 1967)
2) Energy-balance models (Budyko 1961 and many subsequent papers)
3) GCMs (Phillips 1956, Hansen et al 1983, CMIP etc.)

My god these people are stupid.
You just need to look at the damn map:
It’s warming more on land than on the ocean, more in the north than the south, and most of all in the Arctic.

It’s really not that difficult a concept.

What are the real issues in media coverage of climate change?

This commentary from @marcatracy (a NYT media correspondent) hints at the problem, but doesn't really capture it.
He correctly points to the massive difference between the increasing number of mainstream outlets that take the topic seriously, and those who are in total denial (Fox), but doesn't address the biggest gap...
...which is that mainstream broadcast channels appear to be completely indifferent. IMO the fact that climate almost never gets discussed on @abcnews @CBSNews or @NBCNews is far more important that the fact that Jesse Waters can spout the products of decades of disinformation.

So I moved out.
For several long weeks, I went back and forth with what was the hardest, most painful, most soul-destroying decision of my entire life.

Most of this while couch-surfing at friends’ places, and crying all over anyone who would listen.

Judge Jackson rules that Manafort lied about his contacts with Kilimnik and other matters.
Jackson's ruling is a big deal. She lent the court's weight to a major Mueller contention: Manafort lied to hide his contacts while running Trump's campaign with a suspected Russian agent. motherjones.com/politics/2019/…
Manafort gave polling data to a suspected Russian proxy and at the same meeting discussed a plan that to lift US sanctions on Russia. He concealed that activity, which sounds like what most people would define as collusion, from prosecutors in hopes Trump will pardon him.
