I think you could make the argument that some of us were invited on in the early ascendance of Trump because we were curiosities, GOPers who turned on a GOP president. Man bites dog and all that. But three years later, I'd argue it's also because we say stuff that resonates. /2
We were right, and in spades, about how awful Trump would be. I think that matters. If Trump had turned out to "grow into the job," you'd have seen less of us. Being right is an important part of why you keep seeing us. If anything, we were too cautious. (Some of us, anyway.) /3
