Who benefitted most from Godse? It's Congress & Family. Anyone who has suffered because of Godse is ideology of Hindutva propagated by Veer Savarkar. We lost high moral ground & credibility due to Godse.

Godse was a fool. Had he not assassinated Gandhi, then many of the Gandhi's thoughts like Ahinsa & one sided Secularism would have been exposed & they would have died natural death post independence. But Godse made Gandhi immortalised by assassinating him.

We could never have nuanced debate on Gandhi's philosophy because of Godse. Whenever anyone tried to oppose Gandhi's philosophy, he was branded as Godse Supporter etc. & Was shamed. Veer Savarkar & Hindu Mahasabha lost credibility due to Godse.

Had Godse Not assassinated Gandhi, then Savarkar & Hindu Mahasabha could have joined Mainstream Politics & Exposed Nehru & Gandhi's philosophy. They would have had more credibility & acceptability. But Godse ruined everything.

Savarkar had to face Court Cases post independence. RSS was banned for some years on the charges of involvement in Gandhi's Assassination. Hindu Mahasabha lost Credibility. Hindutva Movement took a big hit due to Godse. We have suffered a lot due to him.

And who gained from Godse? It's Nehru-Gandhi Family. They claimed legacy of Gandhi & always shamed everyone who tried to propagate Hindutva as Godse Supporter. Cong smartly named everything after Gandhi, made everyone learn that Freedom was offered by Gandhi & Nehru.

There is enough space to doubt that Godse might be a mole of some vested interest. By assassinating Gandhi, 3 birds were killed in one stroke -
1. Hindu Mahasabha, RSS & Savarkar were completely neutralized from Political Spectrum by making them apologetic & defensive.

2. Gandhi &Nehru also had differences. May be Gandhi would not have allowed Nehru to head congress after some years. Or he would not have allowed Nehru to have his own way. Any historical wrong committed by Gandhi could have been corrected just like Art 370 removed today.

But Gandhi's Assassination had a long term impact on Hindutva Movement & it also affected our economic policy for 70 years because of Nehruvian Socialism.

There are many ifs & buts of what would have happen had Gandhi not been Assassinated. We should not just look at East-West Pakistan corridor thing. Even that would have exposed Gandhi & he would have lost high moral ground. Many positive things also could have happen.

We have suffered enough due to Godse. Let's not make a hero out of him. Criticise Gandhi as much as you want & have a nuanced debate on his philosophy. But IMHO, we will keep losing Credibility by glorifying Godse.

Unbiased Indian Public will never support those who glorify Gandhi's assassin no matter how much differences we have with Gandhi. If we want to bury Gandhi's philosophy, then we first need to bury Godse. Till the time Godse is alive, Gandhi will keep haunting us.

Nothing wrong in admitting that Godse was wrong. That doesn't mean Gandhi's philosophy is right. Even Savarkar didn't support Godse's Act. Many RWs also foolishly try to show Savarkar-Godse as Guru Shishy. They say Godse was influenced by Savarkar. It's not true.

Infact Godse had written 2000 pages letter to Savarkar. Godse advised Savarkar on many occasions to which Savarkar didn't listen. Savarkar always respected differences of opinion. He never supported Gandhi's Assassination & he was Acquitted by Special Court too.

BJP/RSS understands this. That's why they never support Godse. They don't agree with Gandhi's philosophy too. & That's why PM Modi always restrict Gandhi only to Swadeshi & Khadi. We should do the IMHO.
