1/ When my daughter was five we wore matching Keds and denim jackets, and sometimes she twirled in the evening light as I shared with her the best parts of what I knew.
2/ Now she is 32, a working mother of two children who think she is made of magic. When I recently said I didn’t want to get my hopes up about something, she said, “Mom you always told me, ‘Get your hopes up because you don’t want to miss all those happy moments along the way.’”
3/ It’s true that we never stop being parents, but it’s also true that our kids never stop teaching us things about ourselves. If we’re lucky, they remind us of who we want to be so that the best parts of us can bloom again.
