Happy Feast of #OurLadyOfLourdes! Did you know that when the Blessed Mother appeared to St. Bernadette, it was in a grotto that was used as a garbage dump? Our Lady also spoke to Bernadette in the local patois, Lourdais, rather than French. And she appeared not as a woman...
but as a young girl, a "demoiselle," as Bernadette reported. In fact, Bernadette never liked the famous statue placed in the grotto for this reason: Our Lady was depicted as a mature woman, not as the adolescent girl whom Bernadette encountered.
Finally, when Bernadette, a poor girl, reported her visions to the local priest, she was thrown out of the rectory for lying. In 1858, Our Lady came to be with those who are sick, like Bernadette was, but also with those who are poor, marginalized or excluded in any way.

Two priests in two separate parishes (US and Canada) attack transgender people, one talking about a "crime." There is no group of people in the church so relentlessly excluded, marginalized and persecuted as LGBTQ people. They have to listen to this even in homilies on Sundays.
Often, open-minded and thoughtful Catholics profess surprise, and even disbelief, when I share what I hear every day from LGBTQ people, who report how they are treated in their parishes. But homophobia (and transphobia) and outright hatred are still a part of the Catholic church.
Ironically, the Gospel reading for Sunday (which both of these priests would have read) was Jesus saying that each of us is the "light of the world" (Mt 5:13-16). Well, LGBTQ people are also lights in our church. And we have to stop hiding their lights under our bushel baskets.

Lots of false narratives are being spread about 2016. These benefit one campaign but not Democrats.
▪Hillary won the primary by 4M votes & 1k ELECTED delegates, GE by 3M votes
▪HRC won ALL women, ALL BIPOC, ALL working class voters (< $50k)
▪HRC campaigned in PA & MI
▪Hillary campaigned in Detroit in Oct2016--tell Michael Moore that is MI.
▪Hillary campaigned in PA with Biden (I sent him video, since he forgot)
▪On Election Eve, 40k folks waited in line for 12hrs to see Hillary and Obama outside Independence Hall in Philly. It was magical.
▪It's true that Hillary did not campaign in WI. She cancelled her scheduled visit with Obama and she went to Orlando instead. 49 #LGBTQ people had just been slaughtered in what was then the worst mass murder in US history.
▪In WI 200k Dems were kicked off voter rolls in 2016.

I concur that homeschooling is a conversation that needs to happen and I appreciate that 1a is taking this on.

Let's talk again about digging into some of the people who get airtime. ICYMI, I did this with regard to @1a and Kay Coles James, prez of the Heritage Foundation. /2

It's a disservice not to consider and reveal some of the deeper backgrounds of the people who are interviewed on the program. Not doing so doesn't tell the whole story or contextualize the expertise participants are claiming. /3

People who aren't #LGBTQ seem not to know this happens all the time. My wife and I have both been fired for being gay. So has my bestie. I have written numerous news stories about the new trend in firing lesbian teachers who marry. There are no protections for us.
I wrote about the case before #SCOTUS Oct 8 here. ↘️ The Trump DOJ is urging the SCOTUS to rule against #LGBTQ people and for discrimination.

The Trump administration has been pushing discrimination against #LGBTQ people in every area--including the military, #healthcare, education and employment.
The breadth of this cannot be overstated. I have written about two dozen pieces this year alone.

To all the people saying that #LGBTQ Canadians should "give Scheer a break" on our issues, claiming that "he's evolved", let me give you a little history lesson. /1 #cdnpoli
I was born the year that Canada removed sodomy from the criminal code. So, I'm literally the first generation that grew up where being gay wasn't a crime (or at least you didn't get thrown in prison for it). /2
But that didn't mean things changed - the same people who fought against removing sodomy from the CC continued to call in complaints about gay bars/bath houses/restaurants, resulting in police raids for "public indecency" while I was growing up. /3
