Thread: the past 36 hours or so has underlined something for me: a large segment of Twitter users could use -- at minimum -- a 90-day fast from social media (a page out of Exodus 90). (1/X)
We all know this medium brings out the worst in people. We only need to consider the beyond poor reaction from far-left types to the news that Rush Limbaugh has advanced cancer. (2/X)
But you know what? Too many on the opposite side of the spectrum are just as bad.

All of the Christians -- #Catholic, Protestant/Reformed/nondenominational/et al, & Orthodox -- ALL know better than to spew low-brow, prejudiced, and/or uncivil remarks of whatever type. (3/X)
It's not like you haven't heard Jesus' teachings before. But for whatever reason, a lot of people just set them aside & go into berserker mode -- to vent; to score points; to bully; or, in general, just act uncharitably. (4/X)
If Twitter brings out the worst in you, for the sake of your eternal soul, take the 90-day fast. Once you return, and you find yourself returning to the same pattern, take a longer absence, or leave permanently. (5/X)
Our Lord & His Apostles were quite serious about how Christians are to act. The first verse that comes to mind is 1 John 4:20: "If any man say, I love God, and hateth his brother; he is a liar." (6/X)
About 24 hours ago, a lot of people started going after @GregorisFr for wrongly playing up the ethic/racial component of the Super Bowl halftime show. He could have just quoted Our Lady of Fatima's prophecy about fashions that offend Our Lord. (7/X)
But honestly, I think a lot of his critics aren't acting in good faith. They aren't attempting a fraternal correction. They just want a scalp to hang on their belt. (8/X)
I beseech my #Catholic brethren, since we all share the same baptism. Just THINK before you post. Think of the greatest commandments. Think of Our Lord & Our Lady. If you still consistently transmit posts that are clearly uncharitable on its face, take a Twitter fast. (9/X)
You may have gained hundreds or thousands of Twitter followers. But if you lose your soul in the process, it will be a great tragedy. (10/10)
