I reject #NRC in all states including Assam& NE. It's unacceptable that people from a state say that they want to be free to live/study/work/marry/settle in any part of India, BUT that they will not allow citizens from other states to live/study/work/marry/settle in their states.

38 yr-old Mostimaya Limbu, a Gorkha, who was born and raised in Assam, was put out of #NRC and jailed in a detention centre for 9 months. A majority, as much as 90% out of Assam NRC are Indian citizens like her, locked up because of ethnic fascism.

Assam culture is a conglomerate of many tribal groups & ethnicities. But the Assam #NRC is trying to POLITICALLY promote only ONE of them, the Ahoms, that migrated only 600yrs ago from Burma/Thailand & are originally from S. China, as the only legitimate Assamese.
"Ali, coolie, Bongali, nak septa nepali" - a slogan of racist profiling has long been the political battle cry in Assam to drive out "foreigners." Ali=Muslims,Coolie=Biharis, Bengali,Nak septa=flat nosed Nepali. Even racism against oriental features! It's Assam's #NRC chant!
Mahua Moitra didn't just challenge the government on #NRC in Parliament, a few months ago she went to Assam to meet the people dumped in detention centres & was physically assaulted & restrained by Assam police at the airport. This is what all MPs must do
Our maid, a 3rd gen Kolkata Muslim is worried #CAA could deport her as Modi hates Muslims. I told her CAA does not have that power & the CM has said #NRC won't be forced. But if anything happens we are with her. If 1 person aligned w/each woman at #ShaheenBagh they'll feel safer.
