I never understood why many Indians support #subhashchandrabose's attempts to form an alliance with Hitler & Mussolini to fight the British in India. Do you think Hitler would have come in, ended British raj and waltzed out with a box of Laddus?

From declassified M15 documents. #Subhaschandrabose was introduced to Emilie Schenkle in 1934. She was his secretary while he wrote a book. He returned to Germany in 1941 as the Nazis state guest & she was his translator. Nazis trusted her as she was member of their women's wing.

One of the reasons the Nazis hosted Bose was they needed his help to convince the reluctant 40,000 Indian POWs in Germany to fight for Hitler’s cause. (Bose actually convinced them to do so as their "leader" and then abandoned them. See next tweet).

Just think. Gandhi talked millions of Indian soldiers to fight for the British in WW2. And Subhas Bose convinced Indian soldiers taken POW by the Germans to fight for Hitler. Indian soldiers were made to fight each other on European soil. End of THREAD.

Right. Bose used 45000 Indian POWs taken when Singapore fell to Japan for his Azad hind fauj.
But 40000 Indian POWs in Germany were put into Nazi uniforms by #SubhashChandraBose and used by Hitler.
