What has driven the crazy moves in Tesla’s share price this week?
Its is hard to know for sure. I think it is a combination of four main things:
1) Relatively few investors have sold on the run up since Oct-19. The past few years of volatility and media negativity led to a concentration of shares in the hands of investors who firmly believe in the long term case and think the company is already worth far over $1,000.
2) New investors are jumping on board both as the Clean Energy transition becomes more clear and as Tesla’s future cash generation potential becomes more obvious.

#Straddles vs #Strangles ( Sell only )

These are the most common #Options strategies when one would start with #OptionsTrading.

Let’s understand from a broader perspective what’s the difference between these two.
Would not like to discuss the construction difference between them if you don’t know stop trading #options

#Straddles

You get higher premium so pnl would be higher compared to #strangles

But from where are you getting higher premiums is that your selling 0.5 #delta.
So probability of one going wrong is always 50% so to simply put one side is goin to get stuck in a #straddle but then market tends to #flucuate a lot so there is always the case of #meanreversion if you have selected the #strike rightly.

Although both are #derivatives, Futures and Options are entirely different in terms of their potential #risk and #return , #leverage and how they work.

How different are futures and options?
#Rights vs #Obligations

In #Futures Trading, both the buyer & the seller are #obligated to settle the contracts on or before expiry ie cover shorts or longs or rollover to next contract, regardless of how the underlying asset price moves.
With #Options the buyer has the #Right, but not the #Obligation, to buy (call option) or sell (put option) on underlying asset. The option seller is #passive and must comply with whatever the option buyer does.

#TRADING Intraday Stock Selection - An effective method
For trading the next day, do the following prev day evening:
1) Calculate daily range (High - Low)/Low of all FNO underlyings (DR)
2) Calculate 10 period MA of DR. (ADR)
3) Calculate 0.65 X ADR. (T_ADR)
……………….
....................
4) Select stocks that satisfy the condition DR < T_DR.
5) Calculate the ratio DR / T_DR and sort 4 in increasing order.
These are the stocks that have better chances of trending the next day.
......................
.....................
Usually you will get not more than 8 - 10 stocks.
Concentrate on top 5 and apply your intraday strategy to these stocks.
Note : This is a method ONLY to select stocks for intraday AND NOT A TRADING STRATEGY AS SUCH.
