I definitely didn't appreciate four years ago what a *huge disservice to Sanders* a certain percentage of his supporters do by being—without a doubt—the worst folks on Twitter whenever the primaries are discussed.

Don't confuse not being a *turd* on Twitter with not caring about the issues you care about. I'm not telling Sanders supporters not to be every bit as passionate as they already are about Sanders and public policy. I'm saying Jesus Christ you need to *stop being turds to people*.
If someone came to me and said you're doing the *one thing* that'll cost this man you say you care so much about *votes*, I'd stop doing that thing *immediately*. That Sanders supporters are being told they're acting like turds and *won't stop* means they've made it about *them*.
But I also want to be clear about this: I think it's unfair to blame Sanders for what a *fraction* of his supporters do. Those who say Sanders should attack his own supporters are just trying to get him to trip up, as *no* politician would *ever* do what's being asked of Sanders.
