President @realdonaldtrump's company has brought at least $471K in taxpayer $ to itself, by charging the Secret Service high rental rates.
You didn't know b/c:
-the transactions are missing from public databases
-Trump Org claimed its rates are super-low

Just came across this (again) in FOIA files...White House staffers drank $1,000 worth of liquor at Mar-a-Lago, @realdonaldtrump’s club.
Reader, the taxpayers paid!

Amazes me every time that nobody in the WH or the Trump Org said, "You know what, maybe the people who drank the liquor should just pay for the liquor..."

@realDonaldTrump @propublica @PropOTP We know about this b/c @realdonaldtrump's club sent the bill to the State Department, apparently on the logic that -- b/c Chinese president Xi had visited Mar-a-Lago that same weekend -- this was a diplomatic expense.

NEW: We tried to prove Eric Trump right, by checking his claim that he charges the Secret Service only "the cost of housekeeping" at Mar-a-Lago.
(He charged $650/night)
We asked experts: could Mar-a-Lago's rooms cost $650 to clean?
They said.......no.

The actual cost to clean a hotel room ranges from $12 for a motel to maybe $75 for a very high-end property.
Biggest driver is labor costs. Which are relatively low at Mar-a-Lago: they use foreign guest workers, and pay starts at $11.13 an hour.
We've asked @realdonaldtrump's company to explain how it calculates "at cost" rates -- or identify any instances where it actually charged taxpayers "like 50 bucks" for a room, as Eric Trump said.
No answers yet. Will keep you posted.

We know @realdonaldtrump's biz bills taxpayers at high rates (like $650/room) to house Trump's Secret Service agents -- while telling the public the rooms are basically free.
But there's a lot we still don't know.

Here's a bill that @realdonaldtrump's Vancouver hotel sent to the govt in 2017, when Trump sons visited & Secret Service went along.
Govt released the bill -- but erased the room rates.
The logic: what Trump charges his own govt is a "trade secret," so we can't see it.
Hey! Somebody forgot to redact this line. Turns out the “Trade Secret” being hidden was that @realdonaldtrump’s company had charged the Secret Service $275/night to accompany Eric/Don Jr. to their own hotel’s grand opening. (Remember Eric had said the rates were “like $50”).

Apparently housekeeping costs as much as $650 per room.

@realDonaldTrump He has since fundraised like crazy when there were no opponents to run against. Most presidents focus on the busy job of running the country. Trump instead spends most of his time flying to political rallies, going on interviews with Fox News, and playing golf at Mar-a-Lago.
