In case you haven't had enough crazy today, a whistleblower just revealed that the DOJ gave more than $1 million in anti-trafficking grants to two strange groups.

Hookers for Jesus and the Lincoln Tubman Foundation.

They passed over several more reputable and highly recommended groups to give your tax money to

#1 Hookers for Jesus, which tries to rehabilitate prostitutes through a "Christian" safehouse with a tightly-controlled environment.
#2 Another half-million was awarded to this brand-new "foundation" - which has NO EXPERIENCE in thwarting human-trafficking - and which is being run out of it's director's parents' house.
So with that little gem, I'm done for the night and will get myself to sleep with the fantasy that Amy Klobuchar (President) and Michael Bennet (VP) just won the Presidential election.

Thirty hours ago news breaks that all four prosecutors in the Roger Stone case suddenly quit because Bill Barr interfered to give Stone sweetheart treatment on behalf of Trump.

Now imagine that THIS is what followed. 👇
All news networks immediately STOP covering the Dem Primaries of the 41st most populous and 2nd most white state in America.

Instead, they bring in every available legal expert to drill into the public's consciousness that the country is now in a rule-of-law crisis.
By 10:30pm all television stations cut to an emergency announcement from Speaker Pelosi.

She gravely states that Trump's and Barr's actions have severely damaged the rule of law and that House Dems will meet at 6am the following morning to decide on a course of action.

OK, here's what needs to happen: @RepJerryNadler needs to immediately start the process of subpoenaing Bill Barr and other DOJ officials to testify and provide documents.

The House uses their power of inherent contempt to jail anyone who refuses to appear or provide documents.
The House (@SpeakerPelosi ) has the power to jail violators for contempt. They either EXERCISE their power NOW or lose it forever.

Now ... GO!
@SpeakerPelosi PS - This is NOT the time to squabble about the pragmatics of arresting and jailing the AG. FIGURE IT OUT. These are desperate times.

This whole filing is just one more way Trump has used the DOJ to protect those who don't want to testify against him in Congress.
The message is, "Don't testify against Trump. Lie if you have to. We will protect you in the end."
Fortunately, Amy Berman Jackson is not a Trump toady like Barr is. She'll do what she thinks is right in the end.

DOJ employees have asked the agency's Inspector General to look into a $530,000 anti-trafficking grant to a group called Hookers for Jesus.

The employees were concerned that DOJ skipped over more qualified grant recipients. Also, Hookers for Jesus appeared to have a policy of requiring that the women it helped participate in religious activities.

@SarahNLynch DOJ employees also asked the Inspector General to review a grant to a group run by the daughter of a prominent S.C. Republican who was a delegate for Trump at the 2016 convention. The group, which beat out better-qualified applicants, is run out of her parents' mansion.

The #whistleblower said: "Over the past four months, more than half a dozen U.S. officials have informed me of various facts related to this effort."
#EugeneVindman should be subpoenaed to determine if he was among the seven or more U.S. officials, or if he just heard from them.
#Whistleblower: “I was not the only non-White House official to receive a readout of the call. Based on my understanding, multiple State Department and Intelligence Community officials were also briefed on the contents of the call as outlined above.”

The #whistleblower states clearly in his report his conclusions were based on direct collaboration with “more than half a dozen U.S. officials” who had been feeding him the same "fact patterns" since April, 2019, three months before the July call.
It was synchronized collusion.

Here are my (perhaps unconventional) thoughts on the McCabe departure today. I’m not a TV pundit but I did work @ #DOJ for 18 yrs, 15 of which I was employment counsel for DOJ. McCabe is career SES/not political. They couldn’t remove/fire him unless they all reached agreement. /1
I suspect new General Counsel Dana Boente worked on a settlement agreement over weekend to get McCabe to resign in return for McCabe getting to use paid administrative leave + benefits so that he won’t take financial hit. McCabe would have agreed to stop work & depart early. /2
It is not unusual to reach this type of agreement with an employee you need to get out of the office. Although usually the employee would be a poor performer and usually you couldn’t pay him for not working for more than 10 days per DOJ policy. Firing McCabe would be illegal. /3
