In my first @TheRokfin exclusive article, I explore how 30 wealthy donors, including Mike Bloomberg, are funding the DNC through the Democratic Grassroots Victory Fund—and how their definition of "grassroots" is much different than ours.

@TheRokfin The Democratic Grassroots Victory Fund is a joint fundraising committee run by the DNC (thier registered address is DNC HQ)

This committee has given more to the DNC than any other this cycle.

The problem? It's about as grassroots as a club of 30 oligarchs can be.
Before we go any further we should examine the dictionary definition of "grassroots".

It doesn't apply to the DNC, or the billionaire's club that funds it.

But it's nice they think so. Even nicer they want you to think so, too.
So lets check the highlight reel.

DGVF donated over $3 million to the DNC last year—and when combined with the donor lists' individual contributions, the total jumps to approximately $6.5 million.

Thats around 7.5% of the DNC's haul for the entire year.

So who funds it?
First, we have Reid Hoffman.

The LinkedIn founder and Bildeberg Group member donated $865,000 to the DGVF last year.

He's also given $350K to the DNC, $10K to almost every state party, and has made maximum donations to Pete Buttigieg, Amy Klobuchar, and Ro Khanna.
Next is Donald Sussman, Chairman of Paloma Partners and Democracy Alliance member.

One of the biggest Democratic megadonors, he's thrown millions into this election, including $350K to the DNC, and max donations to several politicians including Nancy Pelosi.
Then, of course, we have oligarch and 2020 Presidential candidate Michael Bloomberg.

He gave the DGVF $800,000—and another $300K+ directly to the DNC.

Though that all pales in comparison to the $10 million he gave to House Majority PAC, which is 25% of what it raised last year.
No list of Democratic megadonors is complete without George Soros, founder of Open Society, Democracy Alliance, and Soros Fund Management.

Soros gave the DGVF $500K last year.

He even has his own Super PAC, Democracy PAC, which he uses to fund other groups, like Pacronym.
Other notable DGVF donors include:

Dustin Moskovitz, Facebook cofounder

—one of the top spenders in 2016, he's given $440K to DGVF

Josh Bekenstein, Bain Capital chairman

—He and his wife Anita have donated $235K to the DSCC & DCCC, and $165K directly to the DNC.
