my translation was a solo job, age 14-15, JP level was like "can read hiragana/katakana, knows some very basic vocab" & the rest i covered using dictionaries and machine translation services, romhacking level was "can edit stuff in-place but nothing advanced like ASM hacks"
so here's the intro!
2 big differences: mine was squoze into the JP text space, Arc's managed to expand it and use every line instead of every other
but also: I used a custom font with full lowercase, they used the generic serif uppercase font found in the rom
harder to read imo

I like their "Soccer League" better but their "Nekketsu" is a bit crap

the country menus in both are very abbreviation-heavy
in my case i wasn't able to expand the space of the orig strings hence Thailand becoming "Tl", at least they got that up to "Thai"
on the VS screen I removed the team labels to avoid more messy abbrevs, they did it properly

the team management stuff is where a lot of the text is
a lot of menus worked out similarly
however: my Kunio has "Nuts Shot" (which is a pretty direct translation that I thought was hilarious at the time) and "ExplosiveAtk"
THEIR Kunio just has "NUT KICK" and "ASSAULT"

here's an interesting thing: the official translation toned down a couple suggestive references to just be "videos"
(my translation of "hentai" on the second one wasn't really correct in either EN or JP usage, the original says "ecchi", but nonetheless a reference to Sexy Stuff)

this relates to the "secret video" item which is called just "video" in the official TL
when you give it to the lewdness-hating Iwakabe, in JP he says like "gehh" which is close to what was translated as "BARF!" in River City Ransom
I didn't get it and just had him say "dammit"
