(June 30 is the deadline for a transition period extension. If he can get a deal before then, he can avoid 6 months potentially on death row before our economy is laid to rest on 31 December. Past June, we go from desperate to super duper duper duper desperate.)
Remember how David Cameron was going to see Brexit through? I expect Boris Johnson to resign at year-end if we don't have a deal, let someone else nurse us through the wasteland.

7.4 million people work in jobs connected to exporting to the EU.

That's always been the problem with misleading "only 7% of firms trade with the EU" figure: it counts a sole trader hairdresser or Siemens or Nissan as 1 each, because it ignores headcount!

The real figure, if you look at the number of employees involved, is 22.7% of the UK workforce employed at companies involved in some way with exporting to the EU. Not 7%.

7% of companies. 22.7% of employees. Got that?
And that's just exports. Of course there will be a lot of overlap with importers, but some firms will only be engaged in the latter trade so the figure for overall dependence on EU trade will be higher...

Who could have guessed that the biggest Brexit jobs dividend would be the 50,000 extra people it will take to fill in all the new customs and other paperwork, and check everything is in order?

We're facing immense trade friction, like superglue-and-sandpaper!
Annual wage bill: well over £1 billion.

That's money that might as well be set fire to, for all the good it's doing anyone...

(HMRC anticipates the burden of new paperwork will cost UK firms £7.5 billion a year, EU firms the same.)

We're already over the cost of EU membership!
In an economic downturn, who do the rest of the EU and the rest of the world prioritise trade with? The countries where nothing has changed, where there's either no friction or a known tried-and-tested process? Or the newly minted Neo North Korea, cowering across the Channel?
