Let’s look at the facts.

In 2009 Sadiq Khan was a transport minister in Gordon Brown’s government.

Sadiq Khan voted to support the Labour Government’s plans for a third runway before confirming to the @EveningStandard he was “firmly in favour” of Heathrow expansion.

Speaking in parliament in 2010 he said “we made clear our support for a third runway” when asked to abandon the project on environmental grounds by a Conservative MP @DavidEvennett

When challenged on the u-turn in December 2015 Sadiq Khan said “the facts have changed”.

But we can’t let him get away that easily.

As early as 2008 the European Commissioner for the Environment warned Heathrow expansion would lead the UK to breach its air pollution limit.

The Supreme Court first found the UK in breach of Air Quality standards in 2013 – two years before Sadiq Khan changed his mind on Heathrow.

I have been against expansion since 2007 when I met Heathrow reps and listened to their deeply flawed business case.

I know the noise and pollution that comes from the planes overhead and the traffic on the ground.

Sadiq Khan can’t spin away the truth - he was partly responsible for bringing the dark spectre of a third runway in the first place.
