This may sound like a goofy thing to get hyped up about for a 40 y/o man, but @SPressfield just liked my photo of Leonidas' statue from Thermopolae.

The guy who wrote the book (Gates of Fire) that led me on my pilgrimage to the gates of fire.

Happy days.
When I left Special Forces, the guys from my ODA gave me a copy of Gates of Fire w/ their signatures & the inscription, "you're on our 300 list."
Meaning...well you've seen 300, you get it.

If you wanna see a (kinda) tough guy get choked up, that's how you do it.

Interesting things about China.

Did you know they joined the WTO (at the behest of USA) in December, 2001? 3 months after 9/11?

Not linking anything, but interesting timing - we kind of had a lot going on.
Bill Clinton started his presidency in 1992 by linking renewal of China's WTO "Most Favored Nation" status (meaning the US had to give China any concession we gave any other trade partner) with 7 human rights requirements.

But Bill rescinded that requirement a year later.

I wonder if his 1996 re-election campaign scandal showing that Chinese intelligence agents were illegally funneling money to Bill Clinton's re-election campaign had anything to do with his reversal:

I know everyone is clamoring to start the impeachment process & I want Donald out as much as anyone else because each day brings new & more more dispicable behavior. BUT, I know that we have to allow Congress the time they need to do this right & I believe they’ve got this.

We’ve already seen that Speaker Pelosi has the ability to play Donald like a fiddle. She’s said that Donald isn’t worth it & that impeaching him isn’t good for the Dems politically... that might be true, but I believe there’s more.

First, let’s go back in history for the first impeachment in recent memory (the one that didn’t involve a sexual relationship) Watergate. The Watergate hearings in the senate started in May 1973 & didn’t complete until a year later.
