Alright, let's do this. What do we learn from the various shul emojis? A thread:
Apple found literally the only synagogue in a medium sized town in the middle of America. It's out on the edge of town, where it's convenient to nobody. They often have trouble forming a minyan on Shabbat, but somehow there's always 12 people for a Wednesday morning minyan
Google's synagogue is at a major intersection, with churches on the other three corners. There's one old guy who aggressively insists on speaking only Yiddish during oneg.
Microsoft's synagogue isn't actually a synagogue, it's a Messianic church with "Yeshua" somewhere in the name.
WhatsApp's Reconstructionist synagogue is directly across the street from Samsung's conservative shul, which it split off from. There are two families who are each perfectly happy attending either one, but refuse to be in the same building as each other.
Twitter has a Reform Temple in a suburb of a major city with a large Jewish population. There's a b'nei mitzvah literally every weekend. They keep sending you emails asking you to bring vegetarian side dishes to meetings of committees you aren't on.
The one from Joypixels is the oldest building still standing in a city somewhere in a country that used to be part of the USSR. No Jews live there anymore. It's a movie theater now.
Openmoji's is in the middle of nowhere. People drive in from hours away, from three different states. Half the attendees daven only in English, the other half only in Hebrew. Nobody uses the same nusach. Everyone wishes that one guy would teach them to lay tefillin.
LG's synagogue is downtown in a major city. There are three assistant rabbis. There are two different committees that both think they're in charge of picking a new machzor, a task they've been working on independently from each other for 5 years. One person is on both committees.
