Their 'signal' of a rate cut was an 'if-then' that left the markets uncertain and allowed the fall to continue, a fall that was driven PURELY by media hype. If the Fed's concern was ACTUALLY about the health of the economy, they should have...
... either a) come out strongly criticizing the media for causing the stock market panic, or b) spoken in far more certain terms when they signaled rate cuts.

I can guarantee you, this is to disguise the fact that the market recovery is because of people getting over a panic over a fake cause. Now, the gains will be written off as due to the rate cut, and the media will escape from causing the tanked markets last week scratch free.
