My best friend is a Warren voter. She is thrilled Biden stomped Bernie today. If Warren dropped, she would vote for Biden. She would not think for one minute about it. Why? Character and trust matter more than policy. That is true for almost every voter, even the Bernie voter
They just mistake anger for honesty and stubbornness for character, but their connection is emotional, not on policy. If it were agenda-driven, they would have supported Warren who doesn't have Bernie's baggage.
If they were driven by policy agendas, they would not say there is no difference between Rs and Ds and they would recognize that the rest of the Democratic slate agree on more than they disagree and want similar outcomes.
Every Democrat wants universal health care. The different strategies can all get us universal health care. One gives a mechanism for critiquing capitalism and breaking a sector of the capitalist economy. Of course, that is what makes is untenable for many - the loss of jobs, etc.
It is character that matters and for too many of us, Bernie's character is repugnant. His anger, self-righteousness, defensiveness, paranoia, conspiracy-mongering, narcissism, egoism, stubbornness, and lack of grace and manners is appalling.
