Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada - Chretien - New Breed June 1981- Dear Mr Sinclair, Please find enclosed the Gov's response to your land claims submission, as prepared by our legal advisers. The Claim as submitted does not support a valid claim in law nor
would it justify the grant of funds to research the issue further. " it should be noted at the outset that the term 'Metis' historically referred to people of mixed French and Indian ancestry, while half-breed referred to all people of mixed European and Indian blood. However,
the association appears to use the two terms synonymously, and this practice will be followed herein as well." #Metis
The following letter is the response sent to Chretien from AMNSIS dated May 7 1981 - New Breed Magazine- June 1981.- Response letter sent to Jean Chretien from Jim Sinclair- Let us comment on the so called opinions of your legal experts. First it is ironic that the Government
would quibble over the use of the terms Metis and half-breed, when the gov itself used these terms interchangeably both historically and legally. The gov's favorite word, of course, was the derogatory term halfbreed which it used to describe all mixed-blood people.

MicmacNews-1976-05-The NonStatus Indian and Metis Association regarding Aboriginal Rights-Viola Robinson. Stu Killen explained that from a research point of view the NonStatus and Metis fit into this claim. The only thing that makes Indians Status or NonStatus is the Indian Act.
"The Aboriginal Right concept happened long before the the Indian Act, and as a result of the Lavell case, many are now familiar with the fact that the Indian Act both excludes full blooded Indians from status and bestows Indian Status on people with no Indian blood. The Indian
Act does not exclude mixed blood people from the people that is defines as "Indians.""

Seems to me, when they need their cases heard in court, these expert historian court witnesses, who both were the lead historians in the Mi'kmaw Marshall case, knew what they were doing, but when they mention the metis in the Eastern provinces, all hands are off the table !!
Gee,certainly has money riding on proving there is no Metis in the Eastern Provinces. Gotta sell that book and will probably lose some "other" funding if not! 😅 He also opposes the MNO. Allegedly seems to be MNC's and fed gov's mouthpiece. Wonder why that is? @Carolyn_Bennett
