Could this be another Liberal rort? A thread. #estimates
In estimates Labor just asked the Libs about their $50 million industry hubs program, designed to improve opportunities in areas of high youth unemployment.

The Libs announced the location of the 10 industry training hubs after the election was called.
6 locations were in Coalition held seats. 3 were in marginal Labor seats, 2 of which were won by the Coalition at the last election.

The Minister Michaelia Cash admitted she signed off on the locations.

But she wouldn’t answer when (was it during the caretaker period?)
The department said the locations were a decision of Govt.

Michaelia Cash wouldn’t answer whether she followed the department’s recommendations for selecting the locations.

She also wouldn’t answer whether her office had contact with the Prime Minister’s Office on the matter.
The Minister wouldn’t answer why other areas with very high youth unemployment missed out. Eg Coffs Harbour (23.3% youth unemployment); Outback Queensland (25.7% youth unemployment); Bendigo (18.3% youth unemployment).

Is it because the Libs don’t care about those communities?
As you can tell from the look on @KKeneally’s face this definitely doesn’t seem like the Liberals being dodgy AT ALL.
