Important: @nycHealthy has released interim guidance for #homeless shelters on COVID-19 (thank you @nycHealthy). Other communities might find these useful too. I’ll pull out just a few highlights in a thread. (1/) www1.nyc.gov/assets/doh/dow…
For shelter residents who have fever or respiratory symptoms and have been evaluated for COVID-19 but don’t meet testing criteria: (2/) Image
For individuals who have test confirmed COVID-19 (3/) Image

Not totally clear yet in the guidance is where people should go / what to do in a situation where private rooms are recommended but not available or cannot be made. (4/)
Health care provider colleagues: please make sure to *ask* your patients with confirmed or possible COVID-19 (including those w/fever and respiratory symptoms) where they are living. Work with the shelter facility and local health dept to ensure any discharges are safe. (5/)
Here’s more guidance from @nycHealthy for shelters to help prevent spread of respiratory illness. Note: the specific instructions for COVID-19 (confirmed or possible) cases are in the tweets above. This pic is more for general spread reduction measures. (6/) Image
Shelters will need help implementing this guidance from public health / medial colleagues.

Importantly: this thread covers just partial points, read the whole document. Also, new information is coming out all the time. Guidance may change quickly. (End)
Original thread somehow seems to have broken—sorry.

Continued: Unclear in the guidance so far is what to do for residents who need single rooms but where there are no single rooms available or that could be made. (4/)
