I fully support @rcfp but I'm very concerned abt this legislative effort, which I will detail separately. I understand desire to protect media. I don't understand highlighting prosecutions of "journalistic sources" in their write-up as if legislation wld impact prior cases. /1
These prosecuted "journalistic sources" (which included former clients of mine) had authorized access to #classifiedinfo & signed #NDAs. Legislation would still allow every prior prosecution, would it not? So why hype as if govt did something wrong?

Regarding Senator Schumer's comment, it was either highly inappropriate or really poorly stated. Whether Justice Roberts sufficiently condemned Trump's many unpresidential comments abt federal judges is separate issue & doesn't justify today. Don't sink to Trump's level.
And anyone who believes Schumer was justified, I stand with @neal_katyal, @tribelaw & @steve_vladeck, among many other distinguished colleagues who feel the same way.
For those who remain blind to what is or is not acceptable from our leaders, esp bc of whataboutism, good for @SenSchumer reacting positively to the criticism from so many of us.

This is someone who should be called out for the xenophobic and distasteful statement he made. As an American, it is this type of comment that destroys us, not that someone spoke in Korean after being honored.

The public should let him know what they think.

These investigations are a good sign that although things aren't happening as fast as we'd like at least the DOJ & DOE are shutting down foreign influence on our top academic institutions.
At the very least we see an effort to create a firewall around these top schools to protect against espionage.

That's a step in the right direction.
