There's no indication in the Nathaniel Woods stay order that Justice Thomas has referred the matter to the full court yet. supremecourt.gov/orders/courtor…
tbf it appears the application that moved Justice Thomas was only filed today (per a separate proof of service that accompanies it on the docket): supremecourt.gov/DocketPDF/19/1…
The core of Woods' argument is that the state invited him to choose his execution method (he declined, defaulting him to lethal injection), and then scheduled all the injection executions *first* before those who made a different choice. He argues that's unfair.
Oof, it was a very fleeting reprieve. The full Supreme Court has now weighed in and allowed the execution to go forward.

Remember that yesterday a healthcare worker who treated a patient with coronavirus and then developed symptoms, who cannot return to caring for patients without answers, said in a statement that CDC was denying her doctor's and county health officials' request that she be tested.
Remember that CDC imposed a widely criticized and highly restrictive testing regime nationwide, resisted pleas from doctors and officials for more urgency and wider monitoring, distributed tests that don’t work, and repeatedly missed its own targets for distributing new supplies.
And the most important thing the CDC Director wants to say is a thank you to President Trump for his ‘decisive leadership.’

I’ve been looking for the tuition at Dowd’s alma mater—Cardinal Newman College, a catholic liberal arts school in St. Louis that closed in 1985.

I figure Dowd would’ve been there 1979-83. Haven’t got that period nailed down, but in 1977 ANNUAL TUITION was reportedly $2,300.

@kekked16 This means all 3 cases are stayed until SCOTUS ruling next year.

California's own Supreme ruled against the state a couple of weeks ago where they wanted to require his tax returns or wouldn't place him on the ballot. CA court said it violated their constitution to do so.

Thursday's #SCOTUS stay in the LA abortion case was already (likely) the _fourth_ time in three months that Chief Justice Roberts broke from his conservative colleagues and joined the more progressive Justices on a stay application.

A short #thread on why this is worth watching:
The first two were on the same day, November 2, 2018.

In the census litigation, the Court denied the Justice Department's application for a stay over noted dissents from Justices Thomas, Alito, and Gorsuch:

And in the Juliana climate change case, the Court also denied an application for a stay from the Solicitor General, this time with Justices Thomas and Gorsuch noting that they would have granted the application:

BREAKING: #SCOTUS issues a stay of injunctions against Trump's transgender service ban, allowing the Trump administration to begin enforcing its ban while the case proceeds.
Justices Ginsburg, Breyer, Sotomayor, and Kagan all would have denied the stay — meaning this was a 5-4 decision.
