I don't like the term Hinduphobia. I don't like the term Islamophobia too. Having said that Hindus have genuine grievances and if using terms like Hinduphobia is the only way to get attention in the identitarian west so be it. But they won't care about Hindus #JustSaying.
But yes like I said a few days ago. In the west the only good Hindu is a meek Hindu. A Hindu that won't speak up for his own religion, his identity, his beliefs, his culture etc. Let the woke white folks or their appointed brown progressive reps decide Hinduism for a billion +
But yes Hinduphobia is a funny term. The Hindu community has to realise that in a world dominated by Abrahamic memeplexes of monotheism or secularism their plural memeplex is very hard to digest. But we have a guide in Swami Vivekananda. Just do it like he did it.
But in general Hindus have been model immigrants. Their plural mindset makes them adjust to other grand narratives. So they have to realise that beyond a point in asserting their Hinduness they don't Abrahamise their mind. I've noticed this happening many times.
I realised how little people know about Hindus and our culture when I interacted with non Hindu folks in the West in my stay there or via the Podcast where I chat with folks. And yes the vile behaviour of Twitter Hindutva doesn't help. But the vile Twitter Hindutva is a cop out.
Because vile people exist in every group online. Also, considering Hindus have no seat at the table they've basically taken to social media like an army. But there are many articulate Hindus who showcase their point with immense clarity & they're dismissed without engagement.
I don't know what the solution is in this entire cluster fuck. I've interacted with so many groups and their understanding of Hindus and India is so poor that I don't even know where to start some times. And the worst part if the subtle condescension in their tone.
Imagine someone telling us what Hinduism is when they don't even know the basics of our culture or religion. Yes I've seen it. But we need to learn to be articulate, to the point and persistent. Personally the way Twitter Hindutva reacts is a turn off. Everything isn't a fight.
