Abul A'la Maududi is an Islamic fundamentalist who founded the Jamaat-e-Islami in the 1940s. He is considered one of the prominent Islamist in south asia who advocated political Islam.

The world loves to attribute greatness to a long line of European mathematicians beginning with the Greeks/Romans without realizing that much of this 'history' was conjured up from thin air by the Church.

A thread based on #CKRaju's writing.
For some 1,500 years, Christian priests were the sole authors of Western history.
Their stated goal was and is not to accurately record historical events but to retain power and convert the world to Christianity using purported historical events.
Two examples will help.
Eusebius is considered the first Church historian and the one who conjured up with the widely popular myth of Constantine's conversion to Christianity following the battle on Milivian Bridge.

The election in Kogi is another clear-cut politics lesson. One I have long known: People usually vote FOR a candidate they like, and not just AGAINST a candidate they dislike.

It is almost impossible to dislodge an incumbent just by saying 'Don't vote for him or her' without....
presenting a viable alternative.

The only way to be guaranteed to push out even d most unpopular incumbent, is to provide an interesting alternative candidate. Someone who fires d imagination, with an impeccable political or social CV, and an exciting easy to grasp manifesto.
Then that candidate has to campaign like their very existence depends upon it. Criss-cross the state, meet all citizens from high to low, engage in townhalls with professionals, market women, artisans, religious leaders etc etc. The candidate must sound like an unbeatable choice.

Elections come, elections go, parties remain. I have memories of elections and electoral politics since 1972. That's nearly half-a-century. Elections in #India are not a post-Google phenomenon, nor does any 'analyst' have any startlingly new insight to offer. #India 1/n
No political party contests elections to lose them. Parties exist to win as much political space as possible. Elections are neither a morality play nor a passion play. Morals and ethics come into play when power is exercised -- as an end in itself or as means to an end. 2/n
The outcome of Assembly elections is determined by a host of factors. These are entirely different from factors that determine the outcome of Lok Sabha elections. To conflate or compare the two is pointless. Some similarities may exist but these are ephemeral and debatable. 3/n
