We’re back at Life Care Center of Kirkland where in a little less than an hour, we’re expecting to hear from Life Care Center personnel for the first time. We’ll streaming online at komonews.com #KOMONews
Of the 15 deaths in King County, 14 are tied to this facility. The four new deaths today include -

-man in his 70s
-woman in her 70s
-two women in their 80s

Three passed away at @EvergreenHosp and another at @harborviewmc

#KOMONews
Ahead of this briefing, this woman says her 79 and 80-year-old parents visited the center a week ago, says her father has a dry cough and that Life Care hasn’t contacted them. She says the person they visited is now in isolation #KOMONews
We were just handed this from Life Care - a breakdown of sorts. Briefing underway now #KOMONews
We’re expecting daily briefings every day at 1 p.m. now. “Numbers are changing quickly,” says staff is limited right now. 180 employees had been working here, 70 are now showing COVID-19 symptoms. 120 residents had been here, 63 in facility now (6 w/ symptoms) #KOMONews
Life Care reporting 15 deaths in hospitals (1 more than what @KCPubHealth put out today) and 11 died on-site. We’re told there’s no info on COVID-19 with that group, waiting to get those results back #KOMONews
There have been ongoing visitations from @CDCgov, rotating in and out. No word on how many people or if that federal “strike team” is here, what its work will consist of #KOMONews
As for staff coming and going day-by-day, we’re simply told they’re following infection control protocol. “We’ve learned that the virus is volatile, unpredictable.” Patients have gone from showing no symptoms to being rushed to the hospital in an hour #KOMONews
As for moving seemingly healthy people out of here, we’re told no one wants to take them be it hospitals or quarantine at homes. “There are not other facilities that are asking to take them...at this point, they’re here” #KOMONews
“Working overtime” to take care of residents. “This is a larger issue than just our facility.” Encouraging anyone who visited to keep in touch with their doctors, no ballpark on how many people may have visited during outbreak #KOMONews
We’ve also learned the first patient was taken out of Life Care on 2/19, unclear when they tested positive for COVID-19. It wasn’t until 2/29 that visitors were turned away, signs of “respiratory outbreak” went up on doors #KOMONews
“We feel like we’re still in triage.” We’ll have much more at 4, 8 and 11 #KOMONews
UPDATE: We're now told that @WADeptHealth has delivered "enough" kits to test all residents at Life Care Center of Kirkland. No word on if there will be any left over to test staff #KOMONews
