Briefing about to get underway and here is today’s handout from Life Care Center of Kirkland #KOMONews
Changes include four more people taken to hospitals, 8 less residents currently living here (unclear where those other four are). On @KCPubHealth saying two new deaths from here, “trying to verify that.” They aren’t reflected in this handout #KOMONews
Kits have come from @WADeptHealth, three employees have been hospitalized (one tested positive for COVID-19). Nursing staff judges when patients need to be transported to hospitals based on things like cough and temperature (over 101 degrees) #KOMONews
Still don’t have test kits for employees. Additional staffing came from U.S. Human Health Services, not @CDCgov. More PPE (personal protective equipment) acquired today #KOMONews
Reiterates “we’re still in triage...working on initial problem.” We heard this yesterday. On reaching out to families who have loved ones here - “we’re doing the best we can do.” Says focus is on caring for patients #KOMONews
Still no specific number on how many people have showed up (RNs, CNAs and doctors). No test results back on patients here, testing started on Friday #KOMONews
Of 11 deaths in care center, still no results in as to whether or not COVID-19 is to blame. “We would encourage anyone who visited this facility” to get in touch with doctors. Says they’re aren’t enough resources to go back through logs and contact visitors #KOMONews
On why 10 days passed between first patient being transferred showing symptoms to closing facility, “this was new.” No one particular issue or event led to turning away visitors, posting of “respiratory outbreak” signs #KOMONews
