Al Kahina, or Dihya, was an Amazigh queen ruling over a territory in modern day Algeria. She fought against the invading Umayyad armies led by Hasan ibn al Nu’man.
Defeating him time and time again she gained a reputation of using magic and prophecy to win

With foresight she could predict the tides of the battle, birds were said to warn her of the movement of her enemies, and one time she set fire to the grass and used the wind to direct it into enemy lines.
She fought fiercely for many years and her reputation as a sorceress sprang from later Muslim chroniclers and her practice of the indigenous religion of stars and ancestors
She also sent her two sons to Hasan ibn al Nu’man to be trained as Muslim warriors.
Later they would command armies of their own.

Eventually she was betrayed by her allies and died in battle, but she resisted the Umayyad invasion for many years.
Today a statue of her can be found in Baghai, Algeria.
