As many of us begin work as remote superstars, I wanted to create a thread on how I’ve been able to do it consistently for 6 years. 👨🏾‍💻

Here are my tips for optimizing remote work and crushing the workday. 💯

LET’S GO!
1. Wake Up Early

I wake up (most days) at 4:45a. Now, you don’t have to get up THAT early. Start with one hour before your current time.

Use that time to:

🏆exercise
🙌🏾 meditate
📚 read

By the time your family or clients wake up, the bulk of hard work is done!
2. Get Dressed for Success

Working from home takes discipline. This starts w mindset. Shower, get dressed & prepare your breakfast and lunch.

This creates a feeling of distance from your “home” environment & does wonders for productivity.

Pajamas are cool...once in a while
3. Develop Your Workspace

Create your safe haven, your “office.”

This can be an actual home office, a corner of your bedroom or living room or anywhere that can be considered a SEPERATE spot.

Why? You need a space away from TV, other members and distractions.
4. Setup Task Management and Communication Channels

At @5FourDigital we use @asana for team communication, @SlackHQ for chat and @zoom_us for weekly calls. This covers all angles and makes a worldwide team feel like we’re in the same room!

Schedule weekly chats for the team.
5. Timelines > Set Hours

In other words, your team should work at the times they want.

Some of our team members are early risers, work into the night, or enjoy similar hours to a 9-5.

Schedule meetings, but allow flexibility for when your team works and go by job DUE DATES.
6. Set Up Business Systems

Create & record ALL of the tasks in your business down to step-by-step directions & video training.

From onboarding clients, to setting up new team members this is crucial.

I teach this in my $50 masterclass here:

I know this sounds like a pain, but it’s crucial to survival.

Imagine hiring a new remote team member and giving them access to a doc like below?

They have everything they need to thrive and is REQUIRED for #remotework.
7. Get Out

As amazing as remote work is, it can get lonely. Like, really lonely. A few of my suggestions include:

- Join a Facebook group aligned w your interests & spark convo.

- schedule meet ups w remote folks

- take a day off during the week & spend time with family
Overall, remote work is an amazing feeling and way to conduct your life.

It provides freedom, flexibility and time for friends and family you’ve only dreamed of.

I hope in these trying times this can be one of the few positives that come out of this entire situation. ✌🏾
