To fight #COVID19, there is no one-size-fits-all solution, but @WHO recently consolidated our ongoing guidance for countries facing four different scenarios:
1⃣No cases
2⃣Sporadic cases
3⃣Clusters of cases
4⃣Community transmission

-Activating emergency response mechanisms
-Communicating potential risks & prevention measures with the public
-Conducting active case finding, contact tracing & monitoring
-Isolating cases and quarantining contacts

-Testing suspect cases
-Preparing to treat patients
-Promoting self-initiated isolation
-Training #healthworkers
-Developing all-of-society & business continuity plans

-Enhancing emergency response mechanisms
-Communicating risks & prevention measures with the public
-Enhancing active case finding, contact tracing & monitoring; quarantine & isolation of cases

-Implementing #COVID19 surveillance
-Testing suspect cases
-Treating patients
-Promoting self-initiated isolation
-Training #healthworkers
-Implementing all-of-society/government & ready business

-Scaling up emergency response mechanism
-Communicating risks & prevention measures with the public
-Intensifying case finding, contact tracing, monitoring, quarantine & isolation of cases

-Expanding surveillance
-Testing suspected cases
-Treating patients; activating 🏥 surge capacities
-Training #healthworkers
-Implement all-of-society/gov, business
continuity/community services plans
4⃣Community transmission - aim to slow #COVID19 transmission, reduce cases, end community outbreaks by:
-Scaling up emergency response mechanism
-Communicating risks & prevention measures with public
-Continuing contact tracing where possible; quarantine & isolation of cases
4⃣Community transmission - aim to slow transmission, reduce case numbers, end community outbreaks by:
-Applying self-initiated isolation for symptomatic individuals
-Adapting existing surveillance systems
-Testing suspect cases
-Prioritizing care
-Activating triage procedures
4⃣Community transmission - aim to slow transmission, reduce case numbers, end community outbreaks by:
-Scaling up 🏥 surge plans
-Retraining #healthworkers
-Implementing self-initiated isolation; all-of-society/government resilience, business continuity & community services plans
Countries could experience one or more of these scenarios in different regions or cities at the same time and should adjust and tailor their approach to the local context.
Countries should prepare to respond to all #COVID19 transmission scenarios.

Today I briefed @WHO's Member States on #COVID19 and our decision to describe it as a pandemic. We have made this assessment for two main reasons:
-the speed & scale of transmission
-the lack of political commitment in some countries to control it, despite our frequent warnings.
Describing #COVID19 as a pandemic does not mean that countries should give up.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗮 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗳𝘁 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿𝗼𝘂𝘀.
#COVID19 is a controllable pandemic. Countries that decide to give up on fundamental public health measures (like case finding and contact tracing) may end up with a larger problem, and a heavier burden on the health system that requires more severe measures to control.

Countries around the world are stepping up to fight #COVID19, implementing measures to stop & slow transmission of the #coronavirus, often in line with @WHO guidance 👉bit.ly/3aAvHsq

Below are some examples of containment & preparedness measures taken by countries.
1⃣All countries should activate their emergency response mechanisms for #COVID19 & scale them up as needed to mobilize action across government.

🇨🇳, 🇮🇹, 🇰🇷, some 🇺🇸 states are among many countries & communities that have activated emergency response mechanisms.
2⃣All governments should educate & engage their populations on #coronavirus.

Example: 🇸🇬 Prime Minister @leehsienloong shared his video message to explain the risks of #COVID19 & to reassure citizens the government is taking actions to stop the outbreak.

Today for the first time 100 countries are reporting #COVID19 cases. This comes after the 🌍 reached 100,000 cases yesterday. While very serious, this should not discourage us. There are many things everyone, everywhere can and should do now. #coronavirus

I myself had not one big wedding but one very small ceremony and 5 small receptions comprised of different stakeholders and geographies. I highly recommend this approach even in a non-pandemic year. Here's why: 2/
+ Having smaller receptions enables them to be held in more intimate venues when you can really enjoy each guest
+ Less expensive as only the bride and groom need to travel and plans can be made more ad-hoc
+ Reduces awkwardness of certain circles not interacting well 3/

The problem with "secure voting" is that we don't have a "requirements spec". We think we do, but everyone is using different set of unspoken assumptions.
Let's consider the anonymity of votes. Some voters care a lot that nobody can know how they voted. Other voters proudly declare on social media how they voted.

Do we really need a one-size-fits-all solution?
A lot of voter security issues become easier if we can relax some other requirements. If users are willing to post their votes to Twitter/Facebook instead of going down to a polling place, then we can use social media as our voting system.

The U.S. Air Force on Tuesday unveiled a nearly $166 billion budget request for fiscal 2020 includes plans to buy eight new F-15EX fighter aircraft to replace ageing F-15C/D fleet.
According to the budget request, it will cost $80 million per airframe, but that cost will rise to ~$125 million for each of the 8 jets “to set up the line” & other non-recurring engineering costs in the first year of procurement. Total deal will be worth more than $1.1 billion
