Similarly. And a check on my fairly normal local supermarket shows it to be out of toilet paper and pasta at 2 in the afternoon. Without joining in the criticism of government, now a need for greater information and responsible action.
Pretty clear to me today is crucial for the government in keeping broad public confidence of their handling of coronavirus.
The sort of issues we need to hear government discussing. If today's announcement is just that people feeling ill self-isolate 7 days that will be woefully inadequate. Big risks of government secrecy in a social media age.
Relatively reassuring on the science of the actions being taken and those planned for the right moment. But rather less so on testing, NHS capacity, social distancing (when so many organisations are already adjusting), government priorities and so on. Still too many questions.
Three months of increasing coronavirus cases, and significant business dispruption. It is entirely fair to ask whether the UK's threat to walk away from Brexit talks at the likely peak period still holds. And whether it should.
It is possible there will be no face to face UK-EU negotiating rounds between now and June if the UK science is correct. Phone conversations are a pretty poor substitute. If only we weren't trying to negotiate a trade agreement in record time...
I return to a previous suggestion - UK / EU agree a delay to the Brexit deadline of the length of time disrupted by coronavirus. Force majeure. Both sides have far more important things to do. And staff on both sides will be personally affected.
