In @USofCare 's 40 hours+ of talking to people across the country about their health care experiences, we heard time and again stories that boiled down to people feeling alone. Our health care system creates and reinforces seclusion and shame.
And while we hear different stories with these similar themes over and over again, there is no sense of shared experiences. It is me-against-the-system in every case.
With COVID-19 we are no doubt entering a time of shared experience. From a shared virus, to a shared anxiety, to a shared sense of community - both with our literal neighbors and globally. We realize our progress and defense are only as strong as our neighbor's.
As our country faces the unprecedented response to COVID-19, United States of Care’s mission takes on a heightened importance: ensuring that every single American has access to quality, affordable health care regardless of health status, social need or income.
Stay healthy. Stay connected. Take care of each other.
