Can epidemic-related novels be a genre? A short thread on some books one could read, especially now that time is on hand.👇🏼 Do add to this list if you know some!
Daniel Defoe's Journal of a Plague Year in 1722 about the plague that hit London in 1665. (Some controversy over whether this is fiction or non-fiction).

Albert Camus's The Plague, published in 1947, about the epidemic in a town in Algeria.
Robin Cook's Outbreak, published in 1987, set in the US, and several more by the author, such that he has probably sold more 'medical thrillers' than anyone else.
There's Dan Brown's Inferno, published in 2013, set in Italy, memorable for me, not because of the book's contents, but because I read it in Florence! Tom Hanks who plays Dr. Robert Langdon in the movie based on the book, has unfortunately contracted C-Virus.
Would place Amitav Ghosh's The Calcutta Chromosomes @GhoshAmitav , published in 1995, set in Calcutta and New York, in this category. Read this in school and loved it (and recollect being spooked for some time). Any more on India that one can think of?
Despite the title, Marquez's Love in the Time of Cholera, perhaps does not belong to this category.
Adding Sidin Vadukut's Bombay Fever, published in 2017, to this list.
