I've been working from home for something like 13 years now (because #freelancelife), and it took me a lot of trial and error to figure out how to do it both effectively and without losing my mind. So here are my hot tips for those of you new to the #SocialDistancing game:
1. ROUTINE will keep you sane. Start work at the same time and finish at the same time and take regular breaks (at the same times).
2. Remember to eat, and that eight coffees is not a meal.
3. Exercise. There are a ton of great streaming sites for yoga and home-based workouts that you can use. I like @YogaGlo best, because you can search by duration, difficulty, and focus.
4. Turn your goddamn phone off when you need to concentrate. OFF OFF OFF
5. Remember that people working in actual offices FAFF ABOUT a lot more than people working from home, chatting in the tea room, bumping into colleagues in corridors, etc. etc. So cut yourself some slack.
6. Make sure you talk to an actual human person at least once a day. The postman is fine. A phone call is fine. Your cat doesn't count
7. Get dressed. It really does help. (Pants are optional though)
8. Changing rooms can help change your headspace too if you're getting distracted or switching between tasks
9. Enjoy it, it's awesome. That's all
