This is a very contagious disease that will likely infect a large number of Americans. But we can greatly slow the spread through social distancing, & in so doing, keep the number of sick from overwhelming our health care system and reducing deaths.

Telework if you can. Avoid large & small crowds if possible. Get groceries at off-peak times to avoid crowds. Cancel all non-essential outings & gatherings until we see what happens next. Avoid communal surfaces that aren’t being disinfected (like handrails & playgrounds).

If you’re using delivery services, protect yourself and the delivery workers by asking them to leave their delivery outside the door. Tip via your phone if that’s an option. Wash your hands after handling anything that’s been handed off to you.

I know the idea of feeling isolated in a stressful situation can be overwhelming, but use technology to help you. Call or FaceTime loved ones. Play online games with friends. Start a group chat book club or movie watch. We don’t have to be alone in isolation.

MEANWHILE, we must continue to demand IMMEDIATE action on the coronavirus aid package that is now sitting in the Senate. Federal inaction in the face of this pandemic is completely unacceptable and dangerously negligent. (End.)
