One of the most frequent questions I'm asked is, "what gives you hope?" and my first answer is, not the science. Nearly every new study shows things are changing faster or to a greater extent than we thought, and this one by @AndyShep_CPOM is no exception. usatoday.com/story/news/wor…
My second answer, is not the politics. Whether it's frustration with the status quo or the hope that candidate X will save us, the former doesn't give me any hope and the latter is doomed to disappoint as any one person only has limited ability to effect change.
Hope comes from people - from searching out and sharing stories of surprising and unexpected actors, from individuals to organizations - and from acting ourselves. As @GretaThunberg not only says but demonstrates, "no one is too small to make a difference."
And for me personally, I'm inspired by the origin of hope the apostle Paul describes here - “We know that troubles help us learn not to give up. When we have learned not to give up, it shows we have stood the test. When we have stood the test, it gives us hope.” Romans 5:3-4
