This is plutocracy. Full stop. Throwing less than one month’s rent at desperate working class and middle class people who are the ones who have been lied to and utterly failed in this coronavirus crisis is a joke in this context.
It’s the equivalent of tossing towels at the hurricane victims in Puerto Rico. Demand better than this, America.
It is hard not to conclude after four years of this nightmare that there is something deeply broken in the American Republican Party. And one cannot simply say that Trump broke it. That’s too easy. It was clearly broken when he seized control of it. And it impacts all of us.
... and none more than the poor, our elderly and our uninsured — some of whom are being deliberately kept uninsured by states refusing to expand Medicaid. All of this while people seek riches. Whew...
