👉The Service Employees International Union – United Healthcare Workers West (SEIU-UHW) has located 39 million N95 masks & is connecting states, counties, health systems and individual hospitals to the supplier so they can purchase them in quantity.
"The union launched an exhaustive search for masks and other personal protective equipment (PPE) five days ago ...

Within 48 hours of painstakingly calling leads and potential suppliers, the union discovered a distributor who had the 39 million masks, and has since found another
supplier who says his company can produce 20 million more masks a week. The union also has found a supplier who can deliver millions of face shields.

SEIU-UHW has 97,000 members who work in hospitals across California.

Chinese docs are wearing these & U.S. and nurses docs are begging for them.

👉DuPont tells @NBC exclusively: Help is on the way -- but it’s up to FEMA to manage it.
Also, one FL doc w a connection in China, where the suits are made, is stepping in:

"I'm a physician. I'm an EMS guy, & here I am forced to do this," he said. In Shanghai, even airport workers are using the suits.

"People are pleading, begging, just for anything. This is how
bad it's gotten," said Antevy, adding that a close doctor friend is ill and on a ventilator.

In NY, we've already seen pics of nurses wearing trash bags as substitutes.

Others forced to reuse N95 masks five times
That seems like a recipe for infection spread.

Shortages of sanitisers
In a hospital in Indiana it is only after a patient has tested positive that medical personnel can get a mask

Others are asked to intubate patients, and they have no N95 masks that filter out aerosol and particulates that ordinary masks do not.

Right now many of the largest cities in the US (Philadelphia, Chicago, Boston, and New York City) are preparing to hold parades for #StPatricksDay.

City leadership should listen to public health experts and cancel these events.
